2 out of 5 on the panel didn’t think VAR should intervene on the Guimares incident?? I just don’t understand that.

If there’s one thing VAR should definitely be used for it’s showing the on-field ref an incident that he very understandably missed because it was off the ball. This is absurd.

Do these panels realise that they're setting a precedent here that now this action isn't a foul and every time its rightfully called as one everyone is going to call them out for it now being called? It just adds to the confusion. Just admit you were wrong and we can all move on

Yes but you're forgetting that we own the panel

The Newcastle goal could have been ruled out but I think it fails the very important test. Say that was the other way around and it's Gabriel pushing Joelinton. Does anyone seriously believe there wouldn't be the same level of uproar about this if the referee had given a penalty?

As a Newcastle fan I’m happy to admit Bruno’s arm could have been a red, but I find a bit pathetic that Arsenal fans seem to think it was anywhere near as dangerous as Kai’s tackle, which could have been career ending. Another important point: context matters. Bruno lost it after Kai’s tackle, and if Kai is sent off, it’s unlikely the elbow happens.

“I think they are trying to make the best decisions, they are trying to protect the game. At some point as well we need to give support and understand that mistakes happen. We’ve made mistakes as well and if the pressure is so much then it’s very difficult to manage."

I'm sure Arteta will continue his understanding tone in response to this.

VAR is useless when in hand of these mini-brains. Someone here already mentioned: a third party needs to handle VAR, not a semi-retired ref that is scared to hurt his buddy's feelings

The hysteria of some redditors' reactions matches that of Arteta. Talk about embarrassing and ashamed

I honestly thought Bruno could have got a retrospective ban for that challenge on Jorginho.

Off the ball, not in view of the referee, violent conduct, contact with the players head & with force. It has all the hallmarks of a retrospective ban.

The fact that the panel can have ex players on is mental. Just opens it up to “Well that was never a foul in my day because were tough” bullshit.

Well let’s unpack this logic here:

Gabriel is already going for the ball so he can’t be fouled, right?

So, given that logic, Kai Havertz then should NOT see red because his opponent too had already made a move for the ball? Can’t have it both ways ya?
