I don't really like the way youtube has turned into a moneymaking cashcow with lots of ads.

Nebula is probably the one that channels you recognize would recommend

There's an app available for Chromecast to watch YouTube ad-free, not sure what else it works on though. Sadly it's the best place to get video content but we shouldn't be their product.

If you are a creator than there are many, make sure your content is on them. If you want to watch something, YouTube has the content the others don't, and until the creators fix that there is nothing .

Great alternatives guys, thank you very much. I will go through them and see what i like.

I for myself right now use Librewolf with UBlock Origin for watching YouTube videos. Right now, this filters them out pretty good and i haven't seen an ad in quite some time.

When you want to watch YouTube but without the ads:

  • NewPipe on phone
  • Invidious on browser (under attack by Google at the moment, have to see how it goes)

And as others mentioned there are some alternatives:

  • PeerTube
  • Odysee

Use the "Enhancer for YouTube" plugin - you can filter the ads out - aside from the ones that content providers put into their content, though some of those are almost as entertaining as the actual content!

Looks like Rumble is starting to pick up. I use Freetube on desktop and Newpipe on Android.
