What app is this?
birding
A community for people who like birds, birdwatching and birding in general!
Feel free to share your photos and other birding-related content here. If a photo you post isn't yours, please credit the original creator! Additionally, it would be appreciated if the location of the sighting and a date were given when a photo or question is posted. You do not have to give the precise location, something like "Northern Idaho, June 2023" or even "North-Western US, June 2023" suffices.

Thanks this is amazing!

Wow, this is so cool! I'll have to try this out and see what I can record near me
I hope Lemmy is updated to make it easy to see feeds from identical communities in the same feed, so people will just post in their favourite instance, not all of them.
Cross-posting to all of them will get old, fast.
Is this you're telling me I shouldn't crosspost stuff to other communities? Is it frowned upon? I'm sorry if it is!
Nah, you're good. People do it all the time. People are just trying to be active in Lemmy so it grows. We are in some of the same communities so I saw it twice. No biggie to me
Okay, that's good to hear then :-)
I guess Lemmy is a little bit half-baked in some areas still, I'm sure it'll be ironed out in the coming weeks and months!
Love the Merlin app
Woah, does the app pick out each bird from a single recording, or do you have to get it to focus on one?
It will pick out each bird it hears in real time highlighting it on the list. You can watch the app and start to learn the bird calls.
my wife just showed me this app and it is just the coolest
you go from appreciating the noise to picking out the differences
its great
I thought I was high for a second. I just replied to your identical post in another community (right?) And this one was next in my feed and I got really confused. Lol
Will give Merlin app a try. Used another app, but most of the time I get mixed results
They're not real
