If there was any justice messi would have had at least 10 ballon d’or and Ronaldo 2/3. In 2017/2018 he had the most G+A, won multiple trophies, single handedly carried his team throughout the whole season and came 5th. I honestly question your understanding of the sport if you think there in any way comparable, Messi is the best dribbler, passer, arguably finisher in the world. Ronaldo for the most successful part of his career has been nothing more than a poacher. Real Madrid without him won the UCL with benzema playing the exact same role as him . Barcelona without Messi got put in the Europa league for 2 consecutive seasons. Messi went to PSG, not the most challenging league arguably but they didn’t win the title the season before he arrived. Ronaldo went to Juventus who’d won 7 consecutive league titles before he arrived and were in 2/3 previous UCL finals. Ronaldo apparently “conquered italy” by putting them in 4th place within 2 years and losing every season in the UCL round of 16 to Porto Ajax and olympique Lyon. That’s without even mentioning what he did at Man Utd

The Ballon D'or is honestly kinda lame now. It should be more about the individuals performance more than anything. Argentina won the world cup, not just Messi. It should be about the individual players impact on the game/sport for that calendar year. I stopped caring about it after Ronaldo and Messi both won the award when there were better options (IMO) in the running who had a much bigger impact besides netting an insane amount of goals.
