In the few short hours since I started using #Threads, #DuckDuckGo has already blocked over 200 data tracking attempts. These include things like "headphone status" and "screen density."

I would have said "called it" but it was so obvious that it would be the case that it's not even worth saying it (I just said that in a roundabout way)

Mining our information and selling it has proven to be a 1 trillion dollar speculative industry. Not sure what they want to do with it outside of trying to sell me shit I don't want, don't need and don't have money for. Maybe someone will notice that people aren't buying stuff based on ads, then the economy will be in trouble.

It's not just about what objects they think they can sell you... It is much more impactful than that. Check out the documentary "The Great Hack"

I wish I could pin your comment. OP of the post that I crossposted here didn't even have to claim it as his work, this is dumb.

Ok.... Dumb question.... How do you have ddg blocking requests?

Seems like you have to download duckduckgo app to do that. Maybe you can do that outside the app too but I'm not going to bother checking that. Source: https://social.fossware.space/comment/371693

Ooooh, just the web page with ddg browser. I was thinking they had gotten app requests blocked and was being notified of them. I've had the ddg app for years 🤘
