Once I I got the tapering jig and miter stops set up this was a "breeze".
Great idea! I've got some nice old wood scraps and this design makes them go far!

Is there a cutaway in that pot that makes it fit the crosspieces? It almost looks like there is?
There are notches for drainage but if I recall correctly only three.
