Mine is One Must Fall 2097.
There are some excellent remixes on YouTube if you haven't heard them!
- Frostpunk (epic)
- Citizen Sleeper (cozy and heartfelt)
- Wildermyth (cozy and heartfelt)
- Borderlands 2 (ambient and intense)
- Hotline Miami (ambient and intense)
I just played Frostpunk recently! Really fun game
I've always enjoyed the music in The World Ends With You
Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Such an epic soundtrack. Listened to it countless times. Micheal McCann did an amazing job.
I really dug the music in CP2077 (and, especially, Phantom Liberty). The use of leitmotifs lifted the score. More so than in a similar game (GTA5), I really enjoyed the radio stations, too.
I also fondly recall the soundtrack of RDR2.
Does all the great music in Fallout4 count?
Sword & Sworcery
I can't believe nobody has said Furi! That game lives through its soundtrack. The game is a series of intense boss fights, but during production they sent concept art and fight details to the artists so the music better matched the scenario, and it all came together beautifully.
Also hotline Miami
OG StarCraft. Terran theme is an absolute classic.
Also, BFG Division from Doom.
As a teen, I used to fall asleep listening to Might and Magic VI. You could literally put the disc in a player because the soundtrack was saved as wav files.
Subnautica. Because people get addicted to music by their emotions/feelings. And emotions/feelings in this game are WOW.
Ragnarok Online. I love you, SoundTEMP.
Homeworld. Really effective soundtrack, heightened tension and the feeling of being out in empty space.
Hyper Light Drifter or Fez for modern games. Pokémon Red for OG GameBoy for retro. :D
I enjoyed the AC: Valhalla Soundtrack much more than the game itself
Dark Souls 2. I spent a lot of time standing in Majula just soaking in that music. So comforting yet melancholy, like sitting in front of a quiet fire, knowing in a minute you have to walk through a blizzard.
I was literally thinking about this the other day, and my top 5 (it was fcking hard to choose not gonna lie.)
-
#5 Witcher 3
-
#4 Warhammer 40k Darktide
-
#3 Cyberpunk 2077
-
#2 Bloodborne
-
#1 Warhammer 40k Mechanicus
Honorable mention: Ghostrunner (havent played it, but that OST is fire)
Redout! It's so good at getting that feeling of speed across
starfield has some incredible music, love the bars that play death metal
though i dont think anything could beat skyrim, jeremy soule did such a fantastic job
Not sure about my absolute favorite, but the first games to come to mind when thinking about OSTs is Battlefield 1 and V. The music in those games is amazing.
Johan Söderqvist and Patrik Andrén are great!
I also like the Ace Combat series in general.
Einhander and Rise of the Triad have some of the greatest music to have ever been packed with a video game, hands down.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2, by a wide margin. Skyrim/Morrowind are in the top 5.
I started so many games in Morrowind the music in Sends Neen is imprinted upon me forever.
Divinity 2: Dragon Knight Saga. Kirill made the most fantastic OST...
Second place is for Megaman Zero series I think. I still listen to those tracks to this day while running.
Carmaggedon 1 and TDR, Darksiders 2 and 3, Bastion, Flatout, Plague Tale, Devil May Cry
Original Doom. Best Doom.
