Honestly, I don't mind if my home server is down for a day or so. If it stops working, I get an alert (obviously not self hosted, but from uptimerobot) and I can look at it in the evening when I'm at home.

Does your firewall have VPN options? If you're looking for something cloud-hosted then there's also NetBird, though it also uses Wireguard and will likely conflict with Tailscale. ZeroTier may not.
