Ok! I actually have a quick one.
I played around with Ubuntu 7 like 14-15 years ago because it was supposed to be the most noob friendly. Is that still the case?
(I only dual-booted on an old laptop for fun, but I never really touched it again.)
I really like Fedora Workstation because the package versions are newer than Ubuntu based distros. The installer is a little complicated to use though. Watch a YouTube video about it first.
If not, then Linux Mint or Pop OS are the most beginner friendly and stable.
I've switched from base Ubuntu to Pop_os and really like it.

Running linux mint 21 on old 2008 power mac as dvr security cam server - working great except this thing puts out sooome heat 24/7…
I'm not familiar with security cam DVRs, does it really need that much CPU power?
A friend of a friend (perhaps of another friend) gave me an old mac, 32 bit, no battery.
After mint quitting 32-bit, I have now mx on it.
During the winters this machine makes a cozy atmosphere...
