Hello! First time in the doing anything like this, so please bear with me! There isn’t a place for people to post or talk about their journaling, which can be very helpful to others. So I decided to make one … even though I’ve never done anything remotely close to this. ———————————————————————— Welcome

This is a community for all journal related things prompts, questions, showing off, really anything relating to journaling. Always on the move, show off your everyday carry journal set up. Don’t write down paragraphs upon paragraphs of words, no worries! No matter how you journal or how you decide to keep your journal this community is for anyone who wants to share or just excited to see others set ups. ———————————————————————— Rules

No hateful conduct

Due to the nature of journaling posts can be very personal. Anyone who is found to be overly negative or discriminatory towards another member within this community will receive repercussions relative to the situation. Have basic etiquette, this community is based on positivity and that will remain my goal throughout.

No spam

Spam will be considered as posting the same content more than three times. ———————————————————————— Note

As this is my first time creating a community please let me know if there are any rules I should implement. I am completely open to feedback and criticism as long as it’s for the best interest of the community.

Sometimes we like to shake things up or just see how other people do things. Currently I have a super simple set up, hardcover Moleskine notebook with a fountain pen. Thinking about changing it out when it’s done due to minor bleed through.

Yellow legal pads and whatever pen I grab. I tried to be precious about it for years and journaling never stuck. Now that it's less precise, I'm able to jump right in and do at least several times a week.

So I'm not sure I belong here or not tbh.

I have a notebook, a couple, for different things. My general thoughts ends up just coming as some type of poetry. I use whatever I can find but I have a pen I like.

Lately I've been writing my jail journal, after the fact, from memory, to the best of my ability and posting it on lemmy in my beat poetry and creative writing community.

Like I said, I'm unsure if Journaling is a certain thing or not lol sorry.

If you are expressing your emotions through writing I’m sure that’s considered as journaling. Sounds like a very interesting et up though I’ve never been able to get into poetry writing, it’ difficult to get a rhyming scheme going for me. I hope you feel welcomed in this community as it grows and share some of your poetry!

I’m using a Hobonichi A6, as a combination planner and daily journal. While I love the Hobonichi, I’m currently considering if I need more space than the A6 provides.

Standard TN (which is really a copy of TN because I'm poor) with a dotted refill and a fountain pen. Doesn't bleed through much but I mostly use fine nibs

Currently I use a Paperblank hardcover and a fountain pen but my next one will be a Leuchtturm.

Used a digital journey in the last couple of years but writing on paper feels much better.

I go through phases preferring handwritten or digital so I journal in a binder. I'm currently using an A5 filofax and typing my journal, then turning it all into digital scrapbook spreads to print out, but I'm probably about due to switch methods (again!).

How many notebooks have you filled?

I also switch methods often. I used to write my feelings down in sticky notes and then throw them out to just get them out of my system. Currently I think I’ve “officially” filled out two notebooks, since I just started getting into handwriting journals maybe a year ago. How do you feel about the A5 size?

Right now I’m using a TN size dot grid journal (it’s Archer and Olive brand but it was a gift, I normally wouldn’t buy that brand for myself and I’m not sure I’m fond of the size either). I’m struggling to get through the whole book, mainly because I always want to start a fresh book once I get halfway through a current journal. The good thing about this book is that the paper is 160gsm and holds up well to any medium I’ve thrown at it so far, and since my journaling style changes on a whim from longform writing, to doodling, to marker, watercolor, and collage, or any combo of multimedia this is a good thing.

As for my pen, I’m using a Uniball multi pen that I can change out the colors as the mood strikes. I’m considering getting into fountain pens (I’ve always wanted to try them, just haven’t yet) now that arthritis is kicking my ass. My main issue with pens is that I don’t like gel, and I need a fine or ultra fine tip. Thankfully my Uniball does come in .38 which works nicely.

I ordered two Platinum Preppy fountain pens with some ink cartridges, one with a fine nib and one with an ultra fine nib. I guess we’ll see how those work out. I know it’s usually frowned on in the fountain pen world, but I’m also curious about the retractable fountain pens- come for me if you must!
