Recently got the Pixel 7 Pro, but the keyboard on this thing is wack. I liked the Samsung keyboard because you could long press most letters to get a special character.

What's the best keyboard for Android?

I’ve used android for over a decade and now iOS for a couple of years. The answer is always SwiftKey, even after Microsoft’s acquisition somehow.

I've been wanting to use another keyboard after Microsoft's acquisition... But none are close to what I'm looking for

Same. I wish it were untrue. The predictions are so much better than anything else, especially with ability to use multiple languages with easy swipes between each language.

Best is going to be very subjective, but I'm a fan of Google's "Gboard"

Isn't GBoard already the default on Android One (including Pixel) devices?

Maybe? I've never had one so I can't comment to that. Ironically, I have a Samsung phone, and I switched away from their keyboard ASAP because I hated it lol.

I really like Typewise personally. It's got a learning curve but it's really fast once you get used to it.

There is a setting to enable the long press for symbols.

I have the Pixel 4a (5g) and am also using gboard (should be the default for pixels). I am really happy with it, especially after some tweaking in the settings.

Maybe you can check the settings of GBoard. Usually there is an option to set the duration until the other layers of the key are shown. Depending on the currently active language you also have different special characters on a long-press action.

You can long press on the Google keyboard, too. Maybe you have to enable it in the keyboard settings?
