Arguing with people online is a very tempting rage trap. Good tip.

Never debate on the internet most people are like brick walls you can't get through to them and they don't want to change, plus what's the point the only person you're trying to prove is your self

This is a nice tip. You should see how many subreddits I had filtered back when I was in Reddit, the list was humongous. The same for news, I've stopped reading the news because everything is politics and bad news. It's just like they want to keep us angry!

Social media is the worst place to get news from

Yep it turns people into rage-aholics.

I stopped watching short form media for this reason. I realized that I didn't remember what I had just watched, nor did I care. When I did remember it was usually someones opinion on someone elses opinion on some topic that neither party knew anything about. Other times it was someone jumping into a swimming pool in a dinosaur costume. It's full of reactionary ideas and chains of dominos called trends. I still waste hours daily watching TV or listening to music. But I enjoy doing that far more than flicking tictok or Instagram. Lemmy is an exception to that rule. I liked Reddit and link aggregators tend to have significantly more diversity in content.

This is an excellent tip. Folks need to understand that most social media will just amplify the things you linger on, click, or even talk about in some cases.

When I see a news link on social media, I ignore it for the most part. If it’s something I’m interested in, I hop over to something like Ground news, AP or Reuters and see if there’s anything about it there.

Don't get taken in by rage bait. Stay mentally strong and true to yourself.

Next time a person starts angrily parroting some nonsense tell them to stop being a fool and falling for rage bait.
