I love infinity! Easy to use and it doesn't push notifications all day to you check reddit all the time

[–] [email protected] 20 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Infinity is the only reason I had gone back to reddit. Not being able to use it is what initially drove me to the fediverse

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Me too! And I like the decentralization thing

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

Oh yeah I came for the "reddit alternative" and stayed for the decentralization

[–] [email protected] 36 points 2 years ago

Infinity is great. Really hoping the dev refractors it for Lemmy.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 years ago

I was surprised when I didn't see anyone talk about infinity

[–] [email protected] 28 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I used infinity.

but i think almost anyone here uses/used an open source client no? Thats like a predestined path

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

I love the infinity client and I already miss the "swipe to upvote"-feature on jerboa

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's more likely, probably. On Reddit it really seems to be a forgotten child aside of the fossdroid people.

I tried Infinity but it simply wasn't comfortable for me so I went back to Boost. I generally prefer FOSS but in this case I had to go with what worked best for me.

Really hoping that Infinity comes to Lemmy, I love the app

[–] [email protected] 24 points 2 years ago

Infinity is amazing

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I am in love with Boost and have used it religiously. Now I'm on Jerboa trying to get this Lemmy stuff to work, but I'm hopeful.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It would be awesome if Boost could be re-written to work with Lemmy, but I have doubts that would happen. This is probably a good time for new people to have their work shine though, I'm excited to see new apps made for Lemmy.

God I will miss infinity, my account was banned for bogus reasons so the ability to sub to subs without being logged in was amazing, also love the interface

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 years ago

Infinity has been my go-to. Spending much less time on it though.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I really wish the Infinity dev considers working on the backend of the app to make it work with Lemmy. That's no easy task, I'm aware of that, but dreaming is free am I right?

[–] [email protected] 16 points 2 years ago (6 children)

There's the Idea of making a lemmy API that's Reddit compatible. Meaning all Reddit client apps could migrate to lemmy with minimal effort.

I use Infinity. It's a bit different from what I used before, so I had to learn a few things, but now I like it. If Reddit gets rid of third party apps, or even old reddit, I don't know if I'm going to keep using it.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 years ago

Infinity is a 11/10 but boost is great as well.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Infinity is the best FOSS app I've used for Reddit and supported Relay through purchasing Pro. As a UI/UX Designer, I admire everything these devs contributed for their 3rd party apps to user experience compared to Reddit themselves.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Infinity's one of the most attractive Reddit UIs around. I've been using it for a while, I didn't realize it was a FOSS app. Great to learn though!

RedReader > anything

FOSS and lightweight and works perfectly. Hope he makes it work on Lemmy moving forward.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

RedReader really focuses on being able to read text. You can set font sizes on every aspect of postings and comments to exactly what you desire for the size of screen tablet/smartphone you have.

Is Infinity FOSS? Its my preferred client, but I had no idea it was open source. Would be great if it supported Lemmy.

Nice, I have used a lot of apps over the years, but this is the one that has stuck with me.

I use infinity. Was a slider user (and loved it) but isn't slide dead?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago (3 children)

It hasn't been developed for a year but it works just fine for most people.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (5 children)

Just means its ripe for a fork and switching to lemmy

Edit: tempted to try, now...

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

Slide for Lemmy would be awesome

Wow, a mention of slide? Incredible. There are dozens of us!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 years ago

I used to use slide when it was the only way to get your own personalised front-page without logging into a reddit account. But infinity does that too, now, and has a much better UI imo

Infinity my beloved...

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

Might have to do with u/rmayayo not announcing or really saying anything

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

It's crazy how much better these apps make scrolling Reddit

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

As a Relay user the one thing I have to console myself is that it's logo is included in all those "going dark" announcement infographics.

I guess I'm in the minority of Relay users, I hardly ever see it mentioned anywhere. although it's not FOSS

I don't know why nobody mentions RedReader. It's so much better than Infinity or all those closed-source pieces of shit that I wouldn't touch with a 10m stick.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 years ago

Hits me right in the RedReader.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 years ago

I like infinty and sync

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

Slide has been abandoned for a while per the dev.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago

I'm riding Slide into the ground. I'll miss it. Jerboa is good but feels pretty crunchy still :(
