Mute PS5 beep sound. You can now mute or adjust the volume of the PS5’s beep sound when turning it on or off, or putting it in rest mode.

  • Go to [Settings] > [System] > [Beep Sound].
  • To adjust the beep sound volume, select [Volume].
  • To mute the beep sound, turn on [Mute Beep Sound].

Can we please just have discord feature parity with Xbox? FFS they can join discord servers from the Xbox dashboard and share gameplay. On PS5 I'm still using my phone to connect to servers. Sony owns a minority stake in discord, let's get some resources working on better discord integration please.

If you have anything that supports Dolby Atmos, this is a great update because it works brilliantly.

Even just through your TV speakers.

That's awesome!

Where you getting your atmos content from?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It works with all games, but obviously works slightly better with games that support 3D audio.

While I haven't tested it my understanding is it would only be for games with 3D audio (Tempest audio or whatever) and games custom made for Atmos. If the console is still outputting Atmos for other games it may just be to keep the system from having to switch and drop audio for a second, but I assume no audio will come out of those channels.

Destiny 2 doesn't support 3D audio, yet I get the directional sound effect when playing it with Dolby Atmos enabled.

It even does it with games like Fall Guys, where if someone uses an emote you can hear what direction it's coming from. Not useful, but a good example of the Atmos feature working.

If you are using a TV with just stereo speakers that has nothing to do with Atmos, if you have surround sound 5.1 that's again not Atmos, you need height/ceiling channels for Atmos. It sounds like you are just appreciating good stereo audio.

The addition of the accessibility second controller my day! My partner has a medical issue that caused her to lose a lot of mobility and it causes a great deal of pain to hold a standard controller (and joycons are too small for her to grip comfortably). A while back, we'd tested the ergonomics of this hypothetical setup for her condition and found it would work.

She's been wanting to play games again for a year now and the split controller accessibility option will let her do that.

The new controller they are making might also be worth checking out when it comes out, not sure if it would be helpful in this situation or not: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/accessories/access-controller/

Is anyone else getting problems with charging from an external USB charger after the latest DualSense update?

We updated both controllers, and now neither will charge from an Anker USB charger we've been using. They both charge from the PS5 itself. The charger works fine for phones.

It's like they've updated them to no longer charge from any source other than the PS5, and maybe official PS5 charging docks. Don't have one of those to test.

Annoying to say the least, as it means playing while charging now needs a cable trailing across the living room floor.
