There's been some issues with Lemmy recently due to server load (I'm assuming) and it won't let me appoint you as a mod. I'll make sure to do so once Lemmy decides to work again.

Tales From Retail

15 readers
1 users here now

A place to exchange stories about your daily experiences in brick & mortar retail.

Rules
1. Posts must be a tale about working in retail

Your post must be a narrative story.

Customer-side tales go to !talesfromthecustomer, questions go to !askretail.

2. No flamebait or hot-button issue posts

Posts that feature a hotbutton or flamebait issue (i.e. gluten-free/vegan, "allergy" or other dietary drama, gender issues/politics, religious/atheist customers, abusive/overzealous parenting, entitlement/privilege issues, "war on christmas", etc.) are not allowed due to fighting in the comments.

3. No workplace grievance or blog posts

A workplace grievances post is a series of unrelated observations about how mean your boss is or how sucky your co-workers are, a laundry list of minute details about how management is being unfair to you or how much crap your co-workers get away with, a long pointless story about the events leading up to you getting fired or quitting, etc.

A blog post is when you are just updating us on your life / work situation, or presenting a series of unrelated occurrences at your store.

4. No racism, sexism, bigotry, or stereotyping

This includes derogatory representations of people, and extends to stories about racism, sexism and bigotry even if the person in question is getting their just deserts.

5. All info MUST be anonymized

NO personal info (your name, employer, or other identifiable qualities). NO clever hints as to where you work, no store colors, no fake names, etc.

Posts with identifying info will be automatically removed. Please use "Grocery, Retail, Fast Food, etc." instead.

Do not in any way guess business names or solicit personal information in the comments. You may be banned without warning.

6. No truth policing

You may not reply to a story with "ThatHappened, Quit Your Bullshit, Albert Einstein", etc. People are here to tell a story. If you find one that seems hard to believe, just close the window and move on.

7. Don't be a jerk

Singling out users, getting on OP's case, using personal attacks or provocative language, picking fights, trolling, etc. is NOT ALLOWED. Bigotry and hateful language will be removed and you may be warned or banned. Racism will ALWAYS result in a ban.

8. No personal appearance posts

No posts about how you look, or what someone said about you, or about how some aspect of your person provoked an incident.

9. No advocating for illegal activity

Advocating for or encouraging employees to abet any illegal activity will result in an insta-ban.
