I wrote a huge thing about period pain and PCOS but having second thoughts because I'm not too sure if it's appropriate? I did spoiler it and warn for those who don't want to see it. But yeah. I've got no where else to talk about it and it's just like a lot of ??? and ughhhh pain.

If it's cool then I'll reply to this, if not well, I won't... I guess?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

Endo here, periods seem like a design flaw we should've fixed by now. They massively suck. So much pain. Hugs.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

If it helps you feel better, chuck it out and defs use the spoiler tag so people can avoid if they need! But if you need to vent, goooo!!

I have major body dismorphia due to not having female reproductive organs, but I can deal or scroll past. You should be able to talk about what you are going through.

We’ve just had the baby sleep consultant come by. I didn’t have high hopes, in my mind it was just a starting point as it’s the free council service and the advice we got from our maternal child health nurse did not work for us at all.

But I have been pleasantly surprised! She was really nice and the approach she has suggested sounds a lot more suitable for us. It’s going to be a hard 3+ week journey to change baby’s sleep habits. Really hoping at the end of it we will see some better sleep!! I am so tired!!

Heck yes Aussie Zone is now accessible on work PC! I think we must be blocking new domains or something.

Much weirdness in the way Lemmy displays posts. I have just worked out that I am seeing deleted comments, and there is just a tiny little symbol at the end of the post to show me it has been deleted (I am guessing it is a mod thing). So apologies to anyone if I have extra-deleted or replied to anything that you have actually removed!

For those who remember the saga from last week, the Flybuys points were put on.
But as an attempt to lure me back to shopping at Coles, it's pretty much had the opposite effect.

Quick stroll around the block to get some sunshine and holy hell did that feel good. Even managed to dodge the annoying neighbour, was fully prepared to fake a phone call upon approach, but she had someone else snagged. She's a lonely woman with good intentions, but she drives me nuts.

RIP our espresso machine; 16 years of great service, but the water tank thingy is manky as fuck and it can't be cleaned beyond what we've already tried. It's like the lining has melted, and that can't be good for consuming, but the replacement tanks have been discontinued. New machine arrives tomorrow and it's got a built-in grinder, so we need give away the old grinder which works perfectly. Sunbeam Cafe Series, if anyone's interested.

Good news for those who aren't using Reddit anymore: this DT has almost twice as many comments as the one on Reddit. Thats good for us, since I and a few others were expecting a lot of people to zoom on back to Reddit the moment the sub reopened

One interesting thing I noted from a quick flick through, there seems to be a lot less replies to comments, but a similar amount or maybe even more upvotes than usual. Makes sense since the sub has about 600k members, and like 95% lurk (what's that effect called again? The 90-9-1 rule I think?)

It probably won't last though, I don't think we'll lose many people just put of losing interest at this point, but since Reddit is by far the larger platform and r/Melbourne the larger community, it's just kinda basic maths that eventually more people will go to the larger community on the larger platform and start engaging there. But at least we have cemented ourselves as a solid alternative Melbourne community off Reddit!

It weirds me out every time I go get a haircut and try to explain what I want. I sound so…vague and painterly. I need a language scalpel or a sniper bullet chambered in the correct dialect.

Guess I’ll just keep using that photo from 10 years ago…

I’ve missed the DT for a few days.

Been trying to deal with this ear infection (ongoing since Thursday). GP is switching me to anti-fungal treatment (gross to think about). I’m so frustrated over the ongoing pain, lack of sleep & blocked hearing.

This was also meant to be my first week off work in 8 months (and I’d planned to be job searching to escape my toxic workplace). Thinking of returning to work likely still dealing with this ear BS makes me cry.

I woke up about 445am. Cats somehow know as soon as I wake up and I have to get up because they fuss about, start playing and the little kitten gets up in my face and sits on the laptop i have next to the bed I play youtubes on to lull me back to sleep. Little angels. Going to take my anti-anxiety/sleeping meds early tonight so I can get my circadian rhythm in line with their 5am wake time and not have to try and live everyday on 5 hours sleep.

I start every day now with an AA meeting. I found an amazing 24/7 online group and a wonderful sponsor from the US outta there. I thought I'd have trouble with the higher power stuff but I was obviously ready to begin a spiritual path to become a better person in the world and more helpful.

More volunteer work for trans people today. I'm embroiled in it again this week as a couple of people couldn't work. Have tomorrow off, but back into it on Thursday. I'm on my way to a b cup now!!! Omg they feel so special and sacred. I'm in tears and euphoric. The extra oestrogen I'm taking now has also brought a bit of libido on but of course female desire is so much different to male testosterone arousal. I'm a fuckin girl for real!! Woohoo

Thanks for reading everyone!

Started new trashy post-apocalyptic audiobook last night. It started off like it was going to be a standard EMP/worldwide power outage type deal... but now it looks like there are also werewolves! 🍿

Sigh. Got the real inferior feels today. My co-worker somehow managed to interview and land a new job within two weeks whereas meanwhile I've been applying and interviewing for roles in the same areas over the last few months with no success and feedback ranging from 'we hired internally', 'too much experience' and 'not enough experience'...ugh maybe I just suck at my job.

Dammit, I didn't get to do my mini workout this morning owing to an early start so I walked briskly to and from the bus stop. Will have to make time for it when I get home.

It's gluten free pizza base day at work, so I'll be flat out hand making pizza bases and unable to check in on you lovely people. Have a lovely day and I hope things go your way 🙏

Warm heaters are good! I hope mine continues to last. It has its moments where it won’t work and then it does. It’s started getting too cold for me not to have a heater on at some point throughout the day/night.

Speaking of cuddly pets I miss my dog 😔

Omg so adorable, I was watching a video of a mother cat and her kiten and my mumma cat came into the room and started sniffing all around the speakers because she could hear the little kitten's tiny mews . What a beautiful lady she is.

I got up way too early today. I think I'll take Mr Woof for an early walk, we can watch the sunrise on the way home. 🐕 🌅

Update: the walk was lovely, but the sunrise was a bit incipid. Now I am back home listening to the lovely crashing sounds of the house over the road being demolished. The soundtrack of urban renewal.

I just realised that when I comment here through the browser there is an emoji button that works better than the one built into my tablet's keyboard - it has a search function, I don't have to scroll through and find them!
