Oh Gawd Cennalink strikes again.
Just got a text to day that I have an appointment with a DES agency tomorrow for an interview re: getting work.
Fortunately I'm able to go and quite willing to discuss strategies so I can hit the ground running when I am fit to start working, but isn't it fucking typical?
It's Father's Day! I work at an outdoor venue and we predict it'll be chockers...
Pity the poor Bunnings staff - and if you have to go there, make their life a bit easier if you conveniently can.
Folks it's my last Sunday night for a long time before I have to work on Monday. Wish me luck in clearing out the remaining tasks over the last 3 days. Starting a bit early tonight to get ahead of one task (need to concentrate and get the code right), before I focus on the next big thing tomorrow that will require much more strategic thinking
E: good old brain. Flails around subconsciously for days and then when I finally sit down in the right frame of mind, the solution comes to me in a brilliant stroke and a relatively simple SQL query pulls everything together. Fuck yeah SQL saving me from doing this shit the hard way, or god forbid, having to learn an actual programming language
E2: glory hallelujah what I thought would take 4 hours took 40 minutes and nothing complicated at all.
Just quietly... I think I want to be out of Victoria by next winter. I need a break. Either a permanent move interstate, or move all my stuff into storage and go travel for 3 months. I could go to the US and travel with/stay with my brother on the cheap. Finally go on a road trip now that I've got my licence and enough driving experience/confidence.
Another beautiful sunny day. :) I'll just water a few of the plants then go out to buy some materials to make masks.
Two quarrelling wattle birds have just crashed into my front window. Beak first. If they had any brains to begin with, those brains are now mashed potato. Which explains a bit about wattle birds.
Well the sleep-in gods denied me the zzzs this morning, so finished some laundry and drank all the required Hydralite. Iβm washed and dressed and awaiting company to revel in this sunshine.

The birds have been hard at work cracking snails on my roof this morning, and while I'm awake and working anyway it's in its 3rd hour and beginning to get a little annoying.
Be careful because they may have read the story of Aeschylus, an ancient greek playwright who was killed by a falling turtle that had been dropped by an Eagle who had confused Aeschylus's shiny, bald head for a rock. This is apparently a true historical account and golden eagles in greece do kill turtles by dropping them onto rocks.
Not even a little embarrassed to say I only know this story because I saw it on Horrible Histories.

Melbourne road today:
In the Melbourne CBD, on Lonsdale St with the 90ΒΊ median parking. Two people on opposite sides pulled halfway into a spot, blocking a lane in each direction, including some cops in a marked car.
Lights come on and three cops got out of the car, the driver was like Β―\_(γ)_/Β― arms up high and kicked them both out of the parking spot, then went about their day moments later.
The car that was in front of me / behind the cops then promptly took that spot.

Just up in my hotel room getting stuck into some mounds. Any day which doesn't start or end with a face full of mounds is a day wasted.

Going to write stern but fairly worded letter to Geelong council about a very bright street light they've installed. Honestly 3 x the lumens of a normal street light and it's on a road that has next to zero (0) traffic.
It is also next to an area has a heap of active frogs (when weather permits). Insects are going to head towards the light.
It will go a little something like this:
"Oi g-town cunts dim your shitty light,
regards
Bottom racer".
I intend to do this before the pobblebonk awakens. They need food.

I made crispy airfried chicken wings. Forgot to take a pic cause I was very hungry but they were good. Must nap now.
Feels nice to feel like I'm in a position of power in requesting a raise at work. While it would be nice if they meet my request (~10% increase), I'm actually feeling okay to put my money where my mouth is and start actively applying elsewhere. They would be silly to let me go for this amount, but I wouldn't put it past them.
I think I just worked out what spinny thing is for. I think it's when someone blocks you. Lol

My cat decided to let me sleep in till 5.15 today the little champ. Logged into my friends little minecraft server and they'd built a little party setup for one of the players. it was pretty amazing, it must have taken them ages. nice way to start what is looking to be another beautiful day. happy sunday everyone.
Just going to veg out today. Yay. For those who struggle with father's day, do something nice for yourself β€οΈ
Lunch has been eaten, and the children have commenced the "can we go to the park" campaign. I have commenced the "let me finish a cup of tea after cooking a roast for lunch" campaign.
Probably shouldn't have but I've picked up a 1970s collected edition of E.M Foster's early works (Howard's End, Room wiith a View, A Passage to India, Where Angel's Fear to Tread, The Longest Journey). I only went in looking for a copy of Howard's End because I couldn't find my old copy, which knowing me I probably just gave away without a thought to get it back.
My body has decided I am awake now ugh. Turned heater on to dry the clothes (warm me up), and made myself a coffee.
A couple days out, but imbibing this evening.
It has been far more fun than expected.
Edit: I haz made it home safely. Hello to my early morning peeps, but I shall be asleep.
Iβm depressed and sad. The bad news never end, i think that life hates me and itβs finally put the final nail in the coffin.
