Well one of the worst incidents happened in the Long Room. It's members of MCC only. So you can't just get a bunch of football hooligans saying "Right, lads, let's go the cricket today. To the Long Room!".

According to here, "Former England and Middlesex captain Andrew Strauss noted that the day-five crowd was apparently less exclusive than that of the first four days". I don't know what that even means. They let anybody in on the most important day of a test match?

Some people drink more than they can handle, and some people take sport way too seriously. Then there is the other lurking, unmentioned factor. Gambling. That's gonna make people way more volatile when they have money on the line.
