isn't a hogget a sheep over 1 year?
mutton is the name of meat from sheep older than hogget
Aren't there legal restrictions on naming meat?
This is a community to share food pics, food ideas and questions. Basically anything to do with food. Every day there will be a post called Tucker Time for you to share pics or descriptions of your evening meal.
There's only 2 rules that I can think of right now
Rule 1: Don't ridicule
Rule 2: Don't be an arsehole
If you can think of anything else let me know. Cheers.

I've never seen anyone sell something called mutton or hogget but have been led to believe much lamb isn't
This is my understanding too.
I'm not confident: lamb is young sheep meat*, mutton is older sheep meat, and I don't think I've seen the word 'hogget' in my life.
Same here
My understanding is lamb is under a year old. I've honestly never heard of hogget, and I don't think I've ever actually had mutton.
