My Retroid Pocket Flip 2 finally arrived!

The screen is way bigger than my RP Mini - even for 4:3 content. Surprisingly, the device is even more pocketable.

The screen upgrade for the Mini is on the way. I'll make a proper comparison once it arrives. For those unaware of the screen drama, here's a good article about it: https://retrohandhelds.gg/the-retroid-pocket-mini-v2-has-arrived-but-dont-wait-too-long-to-order-one/

Attaching photos from Mastodon that aren't displayed on Lemmy.

Mind doing a side shot? I'd be curious to see how thick they are compared to each other.

Also do the sticks and buttons touch the screen? I thought I heard that was an issue with some clamshell handhelds. Whoever the reviewer was I believe speculated it may ware down the screen protector.

Flip is a bit thicker: :

Also do the sticks and buttons touch the screen?

No, but it's quite a small clearance 🙂

Nice! I have been eyeing this in the GameCube color scheme. Can't decide between this or the mini v2.

Do you find it confortable to hold while using the Dpad? I'm on the fence of getting one but I'm not sure it's gonna be confortable for long sessions with the Dpad

It's quite comfy. But I found RP Mini more comfortable due to its shape.

Looks awesome!

Weirdly, my dream is a handheld like this that can run onion OS or spruce OS (simple Linux OS With a game switcher).

Do you find you switch back and forth between games quite often?

To be honest, the game switcher is a game changer! It’s much smoother than any emulation station interface I’ve ever used. It combines concepts like “most recently played” and the screenshot of your most recent save state. Super slick.

If I'm going to get a handheld, I'm kind of torn between these two for some reason.

idk why

the screen hoopla shouldn't have happened in the first place if they just ignore the 4:3 purists :P

What was the issue there?
