I'm currently learning to kick mongo. It's like writing left handed while upside down.

There are a few techniques and some good videos, although as always it all comes down to practice until your body obeys.

Every season I try to ride switch at least a little bit just to work on balance and musculature on my weak (right) side.

Like a decade ago when I was skating more and in better shape I could reasonably gracefully transition and do anything that didn't require a bunch of fine or deep control while riding switch. It was great for resting my strong leg and extending range, but never got easy and at some point I lost it.

It's always shockingly difficult.

Did you ever try mongo? For me as impossible as mongo seemed to begin with, switch seemed even more impossible!

I do way better switch than mongo.
I try to condition myself not to shift weight to the back of the board (for stability reasons) , and mixing in doing it intentionally was never really a thing.
