Whether it be electronics, automobiles or medical equipment, the manufacturers should not be able to horde "oem" parts, render your stuff useless if you repair it with aftermarket parts, or hide schematics of their products.

If you’re wondering why we need right to repair laws, consider home appliance maker Bosch, which refuses to give customers service manuals, necessitating unnecessary and expensive service calls.

Cue in the impending wave of repair problems with the proliferation and aging of Bosch ebike drive units. Unfortunately AFAIK none of the alternatives are any better at that, and Bosch at least has a lot of repair available at local bike shops. Also Bosch'es units are fairly reliable.
