With Daredevil, I was concerned that they would bring back the character but not the writers, since the quality of the writing was part of the reason why it worked so well.

And then there's Iron Fist, where I would have the opposite concern.

I liked Finn Jones, but the writing made him seem pretty lame. The stories were pretty lame too.

By the end of season 2 it looked like they might have figured things out and actually turn good by season 3. If course that didn't happen and I can't blame them after the terrible first season and the slightly better but still pretty bad but getting there second season.

That being said if they give things a soft reset I'm onboard with trying again.

I couldn’t get past the first episode. I tried twice.

I was casually consuming every show and movie in the MCU. It was easier back then, but there was still a lot. Some of the TV was also pretty bad (ABC's Inhumans, I'm looking at you). Some of it was targeting a younger audience than my interests (Runaways, Cloak and Dagger) but I still made it through all of those.

Iron Fist was what broke me of watching MCU stuff. I tried and tried to drag myself through that horrible show (only the 1st season was out at the time). I couldn't do it. I still haven't watched Defenders or any of the "netflix" MCU shows that came after. I watched few MCU movies (like Endgame and Spiderman), but still have not forgiven the MCU for Iron Fist and there are bunches of MCU movies or any of the new Disney MCU shows I still haven't seen except Season 1 of Loki.

Iron Fist season 1 was definitely the low point of the Netflix shows, and it's definitely the writing. I'm convinced that they wanted to make something very different, and tried to shape Iron Fist into something that really didn't fit. For one thing, the showrunner's only previous experience in anything resembling action, sci-fi or superhero stuff was finishing Inhumans after the production fell apart. When Danny shows up in other shows (with other writers) he's actually an enjoyable character.

I remember being disappointed by The Defenders the first time I watched it, but when I rewatched it more recently, I really liked it. Even the Danny stuff. It's not perfect, but it has a lot of good character work and has some very satisfying moments.

Also the Punisher is better than it has any right to be. Even if you're burned out on the MCU, I would still recommend it since it has so little resemblance to anything else Marvel puts out aside from maybe Daredevil season 1.

Finally just got around to watching punisher, just finished season 1 the other day and I'm kicking myself for not watching it sooner. It's fantastic!

Kristen Ritter is already filming for season two of daredevil born again, and Luke Cage has a cameo in season one.

Hopefully of this happens it includes secondary characters like Simone Missick as Misty Knight.

I want to watch these ground level shows knowing that anyone could show up at anytime. Sometimes with our main character, other times off on their own adventures.

Colleen Wing was the best part of Iron Fist.

I'm seeing a serious lack of Howard the duck

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Howard the Duck has been in several MCU movies and had a legit role in a What If...? episode.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Exactly.

Duck where?

Only worth it if has the same crew as the Netflix shows. By that I mean the behind the scene stuff.... clearly anybody can put out CGI with stunts but those shows didn't have a smidge of Di$ney on them. Legit compare them to the more successful (profit?) movies that came out and not at all the same.

I'm holding out hope for Daredevil Born Again. Echo did a good job with Kingpin, and while it wasn't quite as dark, it still had its moments.

Seriously these guys are so out of touch at this point, if fantastic 4 isn't 90%+ they're cooked

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Maybe Iron Fist can cry less?

Almost every else if failing, so they figure, why not
