Yes.
I've already deleted the reddit app off my phone, and changed my browser home page to lemmy from reddit.
Welcome to [email protected]! Where you post yout polls.
As there's no poll feature on lemmy, this community uses downvoting and upvoting system as a poll. Post a comment like it was an option. Downvote = Disagree, Upvote = Agree.
Yes.
I've already deleted the reddit app off my phone, and changed my browser home page to lemmy from reddit.
It depends. Right now it's unclear due to the lack of content. If that improves I'll stay but most of the communities are empty here at the moment
Yes. Short answer, reddit has gone stale.
I don't know about Lemmy specifically, but I'm definitely all in on decentralized, ActivityPub-based social media.
Feel like we're about to see an explosion in ActivityPub interfaces, and if that happens, it's probably inevitable someone makes a UX novel or innovative enough to pull me away from Lemmy or some other 1:1 reddit clone.
Absolutely, I like how peaceful the site is and how it is not reddit or twitter
though I likely will only use my lemmy.blahaj.zone account instead of this one or pawb.socisl
I plan on it if more people come over and the communities grow. So far I have been checking the sub-Reddits I am subscribed to for info about them migrating to Lemmy
I've switched to Kbin.
The "brand" of this place sure is odd... "lemmy world"... Need some backstory to this branding choice. Unsure if that can make me view it differently.
I think i will be sticking around. Personally i like the smaller community and be able to grow things more organically. Personally i do wish it were a bit more organized and i am really going to miss some of the more niche subreddits
Maybe a stupid question but is there any app for Lemmy? In my mobile browser it is somehow clumsy
Definitely maybe.
This is very promising community that is close to what Reddit used to be. I don't like the direction Reddit goes and I feel not motivated to continue on Reddit. I'm trying to stay here and I hope I can contribute to this community both code/ui improvements and content.
Definitely.
Definitely will stay. But muscle memory needs to be retrained.
In my standard position, I'm holding the mouse with my right hand and my left hand fingers are at around the ASDF keys. I can easily reach R E D keys with my left fingers and Reddit will be autofilled by the browser bar. But with Lemmy, I would have to take my right hand off of my mouse and type at least the L (and then E with left hand) for the autofill to fill in the rest.
This is something to keep in mind when naming things if I were to start a new company or product ;-) e.g. how ergonomic is the name.
If would be better if Lemmy was called Remmy, for example. Of course I can do something about it, like add a short cut somewhere in my browser.
If there's a good enough android app then yeah I will stick around. It is in my view the better reddit. Just needs more communities.
Honestly, not using read for the past two weeks has shown me just how little I need it. Now that I'm using Lemmy, as well as sites like Tumblr and Squabble, I've realized it's been 1000x harder for me to doomscroll like I did on reddit. Things might change in the long run, and Lemmy and Squabble seem to be relatively young sites compared to Reddit, but I'm using social media less overall and I don't want to die when I use it.
Nah, I'm staying here. Fuck Reddit. Not using it has made me realize how useless it is to me.
Yes. Even if Reddit goes back to semi-normal I just hope the Threadiverse retains the critical mass of users to stay interesting. Currently I really don't miss reddit at all.
I couldn't agree more, that critical mass making for good discussion and bringing in current news and events across many subjects has happened already. The quality of content bubbling to the top here is far better than Reddit's been for years.
Not really if Reddit gets back to its course
Gonna be using both, until the amount of content starts to be similar and then switch here permanently
Possibly. The page refresh changes what I’m looking on the main thread, which is really annoying. Also, it will need solid mobile app options and content. Lastly, if I can block “subreddits” that’s a huge bonus.
I'm hoping this website will get a mobile port because that will make it easier to doom scroll ',:) /s
Yes, though finding replacements for a lot of Reddit is quite difficult, and a lot of communities I was in on Reddit don't quite feel the same here. ~Nai
Fart
Yes
Yep.
I will use it but not as my primary. I think Reddit still is where I want to be until the content here increases. I understand we have to create content here for that to happen though so I will continue to use in just to do my part.
It's a bit complicated to create an account. Using an e-mail address to create an account is a bit weird, not gonna lie. Hopefully 10 minutes mail services are there. A bit annoying to have to register a new account for each servers, I feel like I'm not getting everything at once and I'm potentially missing threads or posts that could be interesting.
If reddit can save itself, it's likely I'll stay on reddit, but if they do indeed kill Boost, I'll probably stay here. I just need more people to move over to Lemmy because reddit does have that power of so many people being there that there's a community with a ton of content on it. Something as niche as retrogamerepair has active people you can talk to on reddit, and that's a big thing that Lemmy will need to get
Time will tell what the userbase looks like after Sync is up and running for a bit. I plan to stay around until at least then.
I'll keep using both Reddit and Lemmy
lol
Yes. It scratches the itch enough.
Yes! Lemmy feels like internet felt 20 years ago. Better quality conversations, no spam, stupid comments and constant auto promotion. I just hope it stays that way. Whatever happens, I am not returning to reddit.
Yes. 99% of my reddit browsing was through an app. If it shuts down, my activity does too.
Is there any way to do actual Polls with Lemmy?
