The sub went to shit practically overnight, and it happened right around the time of the freedumb convoy. I don't think it's a coincidence.

How in-your-face was that sudden drop in hostile "freedom from TruDope" commentary the week Russia invaded Ukraine and they all got new influencer assignments or something?
It was bad way before, I switched to r/onguardforthee and the people were nicer before I made my way over to !Canada in 2023.
Welcome to 2020?
Or 2010 if you're a French Canadian, because r/Canada being shit with French Canadians has always been the norm.
I love how Canadians shit on the Bloc Québécois, but if you post their platform without a name attached everyone thinks it's the greatest party ever.
Hell, look at the current party leaders and tell me Yves-François Blanchet isn't the only one you would put in the PM position!
I am begging for a change to our voting system at this point almost as much as I am begging for people to actually read the election programmes. Look past the face on the TV, learn what they actually stand for folks!
That's literally what we were just talking about, the party platforms and the leader's ability to discuss them.
Exactly why I commented that. :-)
r/Canada has always been a shit show but the alleged bot/paid actor activity is very concerning.
I'm not even from canada and I knew r/onguardforthee was the less shitty version of r/canada. I'm not sure why she's surprised they're being shit.
The longer I spend in the Fediverse the more obviously fake reddit is when I occasionally look at it (through an anonymous front-end)
The new waves of users finding out reddit is no better than the dumpster fire social media sites they fled.
Just want to say Rachel Gilmore one of my favourite modern social media journalist. Certainly worth a follow if you're into that format of Canadian political content.
