My department has been organizing and the closer we get to the final parts of the process, the more nervous I feel like I am. If we unionize, can individuals still seek out raises on their own, or do any pay increases only happen during contract negotiations for all unionized employees?

(We're in higher ed)

Any info or suggestions is appreciated.

It depends….

But usually like jobs will be treated alike… an Admin 2 in the business office with 5 years should be paid the same as the admin 2 in the presidents offices

But mostly yes the union would handle most of if not all the groups and their step raises
