Topics around green technology and practices that actually work, not the green-washing stuff, and getting off the addition to fossil fuels before we wreck this little ball of dirt we call Earth.

Rules

Be civil, kind, and respectful. If we need more rules we will make them, but it boils down to those three.

No, seriously… how is #ElonMusk so incredibly stupid & ill-informed? Like, what IS wrong with him?

He's not that stupid, it's just that the truth is irrelevant to him and all he cares about is doing or saying whatever will benefit him most at this moment in time. Rather like the rest of the band of villains he's thrown his lot in with.

Saying that recycling is pointless gets him kudos amongst those who support him right now, so that's what he says.

The simplest explanation is he has surrounded himself with people who will never say he's wrong.

Everything on Twitter is about reaction and "engagement".

Because he's an absolute moron of a filthy rich asshole and these companies are actually run by people much smarter than him. And even then, sometimes all they can do is damage control for his dumpster fires PR stunts like the cybertruck.

Never forget that he never actually founded any of these companies. He's just so insecure and desperate to be perceived as a genius that he buys the "founder" title from the actual smart people who came up with their ideas.

Narcissism is one likely piece of the answer. Strong narcissists say what they want to believe to be true, regardless of what the facts in the world are, and certainly regardless of what they said last week or last year.

On this particular issue, it's possible that Elon is trying to be cute. He might have heard something like, you can't recycle your way out of climate change, and he probably realized that's true. Plus, he's heard stories about where things that you put out for recycling actually end up being incinerated or buried in landfills anyway. So he wants to use that as an excuse to attack environmentalists, because as a tech bro he hates environmentalists... Of course that's just one possible explanation, but even if Elon isn't using that explanation, other people similar to him surely have and will at different times.

To be completely honest, most people only think of recycling plastic materials since most of what they buy is plastic, and plastic recycling is dumb and mostly theater

@[email protected] consumer side, maybe, but not on the manufacturing side. I’m in apparel, recycled plastic is a huge part of our raw materials converting trash to polyester. This is true for many industries, including cars, and Musk should know this.

@[email protected] I think it's that he simply speaks without thinking. Hard to imagine how else someone could be such walking contradiction.
