Are they going to pay me to watch then? Because I have zero interest in subscribing to Paramount.

I really want to believe this is not true as this is the only article that comes up in search about this. I know ai pricing is coming. But the precedent of it being an actual thing now... eugh.

This is a satire site, fyi. Paramount is not actually doing this

Edit to add I subscribe to Paramount because Star Trek. They also have a lot of great old movies. Their app sucks though, and the bright blue start screen almost gives me seizures

Apparently well written satire based on all the other comments.

... and this is their A-game.

Fools think good satire is easy because it's effortless to enjoy. They don't know absurdities have to be a punchline, and relevant, and distinguishable from reality.

I'm glad I gave up almost all this crap. Went from cable to cordless cable (due to wife) to just a few streaming services at the lowest cost (able to convince wife!). We just have Peacock, which with a teacher discount is like 6 a month for the live channel option and is the only live tv we have or need. Since we got it so low, I also splurged on the ad Netflix account, which is also like 7 a month.

Sadly we had Hulu which was $85 a month with live tv but i opted for no tv and paid $80 for the year but we quickly found out we don't even use it anymore without the tv option so this will not be renewed either.

We don't really watch sports, but when we needed to and it's not on Peacock (some actually were) we would just sign up for a free trial of whatever service it was going to be on for that week. I got a full month of YouTube tv for free which helped. Also the best seems to be fox sports which allows you to stream 1 hour no questions asked, then once the hour is up either clear the app cache or uninstall and reinstall the app and boom 1 more hour. I normally wait for a commercial around the hour mark and takes less than a min to get back into it.

No way am I ever supporting surge pricing... I have no idea how anyone believes this will help their company when people will have such a sour taste because they may pay more once but probably want out ASAP after. Whatever happened to never tarnish your name?
