Gotta love that there are now races in America so us Americans can keep flying to Europe to watch races

Or Canada, which is what I'm doing lol. ~$450 for a grandstand seat at the hairpin all weekend. But I think Zandvoort might be in the cards next year, I've heard that's a pretty reasonable race to attend as well.
Zandvoort looks amazing just for the scenery alone. Add in a race!!!
Zandvoort has the benefit of being in a small, densely populated country with decent public transport. So you can stay at a hotel in some less touristy or obvious city and still get to the track in maybe 2 hours and see some Dutch landscapes from the train (it's a bit boring to me, but it's always nice to see another country). You can then visit a city like Amsterdam (for museums and the tourist traps), Dordrecht or Leiden (both more authentic and beautiful cities. Also less tourists, so I should tell you this and change that) in the days after the GP when the hotel prices there are back to normal.
It’s on the list of places for us to visit for sure.
Right. Even Canadian GP is pretty much pricing me out.
Plus why go to Canada when you can go to Europe?
I see you've never been to Montreal!
Gotta get that oh so satisfying Poutine
How so? Ticket prices in Canada are among the most economical: https://f1destinations.com/ranked-how-much-do-f1-tickets-cost-in-2023/.
Are you getting hit on airfare/accomodations compared to the other inexpensive international races?
May have been an airfare hit when I looked. Will for sure look again for next year!!
Hmm always wanted to go to Japan, sounds like a extra reason to go
I've been in 2016 for the GP and got tickets for this year too. Our tickets are fantastic seats, just down Turn 1/2 for the same price as COTA GA this year. Can't wait. It's a great country to tourist in, the track is fantastic.
We got pretty annoyed by COTA in 2021, it was better pre-covid (less people, less lines, way less expensive, and the shuttles were an absolute disaster) and went to Mexico last year. Great experience, similar door-to-door cost to sit in Foro Sol (stadium) Norte as GA in COTA (flight was more, tickets were a little more, but hotel and food were way cheaper). Highly recommend.
Vegas.... Same sentiments (and I have family there), you can do better for the same cost!
We have been wanting to go for the last few years. It’s in the cards but timing has been an issue. Glad to hear it was a good time. Watching the fans during the races makes it looks like Sakura would be a fun race to attend
Vegas and Miami aren't races for us common folk, they're for the socialites.
We have Monaco at home
Yeah I was excited with the Vegas news since I'm only 4hrs away, but then when I saw the prices I couldn't believe it. I'm close enough to drive there but not close enough for a turn around. When you factor in hotel/event costs and traffic, I could only imagine the nightmare it would be to try and make a weekend out of it.
My friends and I were talking and for the price we could also just go to Moab or St George area and go rent UTVs for the same price and actually get to drive some fun ass vehicles. Still be in the desert.
This is exactly why my wife and i won't be attending F1 races. This is just too greedy, i wont support it, full stop.
While i'm sure F1 will do just fine without my 2 tickets, maybe i'm just one of many who refuse this sillyness. Just because i can afford it, doesn't mean i will.
We get together and watch as a group. It’s super fun. I wonder if that kind of enjoyment comes at a race track with multi hundred dollar tickets.
I lived in Austin for 5 years. I refused to fork out $400 for a partially obscured view of the track. $2200 is just absolutely bonkers.
The Austin GP has been on our bucket list for a while since it's not far from where we live. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll ever be able to go after looking the current prices/seating. Those Vegas prices are just insane.
Yeah, I live just one state over, and we genuinely planned on attending, especially as we love Vegas anyway, but the prices are just completely insane. So we're not going, just on principle.
You get a better view on TV anyway.
Same with Miami. Been wanting to go but just so expensive.
