Yeah I guess it was originally opened as Danny's Donuts and the name Denny's came about to avoid confusion with another chain.
A few years ago, I worked in a warehouse and one of my coworkers wanted to call for a Dennis across the warehouse. She's not a native speaker, so she didn't know which syllable to emphasize, so she shouted "DENNIIIIIS", which ended up sounding like "Denise".
That is all. 🙃
But wasn't it a waffle house where that chair got thrown and that employee just swatted it away like "not today satan"
