It isn't a big deal, unless for loons that get all of their news from fake accounts. That's why it's a big deal. Because some will be sucked into a bubble.

because it doesn’t think the social network is that big a deal.

It really isn't, though...

No one really thinks about X except for when it's in the news, and even then it's like, "Oooh, Twitter. Yeah, I remember that."

Edit: Oh, yeah. That's ×1M users per country.

Ah, so it is not really users, but something called "audience". Which basically means "screens we might be able to show ads to". So even viewings of embedded tweets or not logged in users and users without accounts will count here. I've killed my account there and stopped posting, but of course someone will link something there and so I might still be counted as a user there. Real active user numbers might show a different picture.
