TMZ Sports has learned WWE Superstar Sonya DeVille suffered a serious knee injury that will require surgery.

I sometimes feel like the Women's Tag Team Titles are cursed, how many women have been injured shortly after winning them?

Is it just me or has there been a lot of ACL tears lately? I don't know if it's bad luck or something else.

Hope she heals fast. Seems like she's been through a lot these past few years.

Just one Google hit from Wrestletalk says... and they probably don't have a full list, they also list several others in WWE out with injury that weren't knee related. I'm also not sure how trustworthy their research is.

Holy shit, how are their so many ACL injuries ?

I yo-yo with my weight and my doctor was on me about it and wanted me to exercise more but warned me against doing anything Crossfit claiming the squats and jumps have led to an increase in her seeing knee injuries. I don't know if that's it, but it's a guess. I know Becky and Seth were into CrossFit for a while there.

But, I will say that it seems to be a big thing right now in sports. In the women's world cup that's currently happening one of the commentators mentioned that over 20 competitors were out with ACL injuries. [NYTimes] article about it.

If you can afford to check with a doctor, ask them, they may think differently than my doctor. It's entirely possible she was letting me down easy on what I should and shouldn't do.

Hopefully Sonya is not out for long, no doubt they'll have to drop the titles but hopefully WWE will do the right thing and get the belt back on Sonya when she returns
