I feel like having an animal around that can cause allergic reactions is a bad move for a hospital.

Humans don't have severe reactions to dogs even if they're allergic. If they have a moderate reaction then they're already inside a hospital. But it's also an incredibly clean working environment, so unless you're playing with it you're going to be okay.
