They want you to think what's happening in Venezuela is about "authoritarianism". It's not.

It's about who ultimately controls more than $14 trillion in mineral resources - a national government or Western globalist bankster elites?

It's about which geopolitical bloc will gain access and influence over these resources - the Western global financial empire or the emerging BRICS trading system?

What's happening in Venezuela is part of a broader historical struggle between national movements and a system that condemns them to perpetual underdevelopment as cheap exporters to Western oligarch cartels like Blackrock and ExxonMobil.

"Democracy" and "authoritarianism" are slogans that Western gangsters use as cudgels whenever their material interests are threatened.

If you're buying what Elon Musk is selling, you might as well believe in Santa Claus.

The "emerging BRICS trading system"

Yeah sure. Maybe try not to embarrass yourself with your three-day military special operation that goes peachy. Suck a emerging DICKS trading system.

It's a little more complicated than that.

I'll note that the incumbent has been trying to avoid free and fair elections, repressing and attacking the main opposition.

I'll note that the opposition coalition is formed of both left wing, right wing and centrist groups, even if the main party leaders lean rightwing. The Marxist-Leninist aligned party Bandera Roja, among other leftwing parties also oppose the Maduro government, calling them socialist in name only.

I'll note that the vote counts claimed by the election committee overseeing the vote and the opposition have vastly different numbers, only one can be right:

The tallies in possession of the opposition showed a total of 2.75 million votes for Maduro and 6.27 million for his rival, former diplomat Gonzalez, Machado said.

The numbers were sharply different to the 5.15 million votes the electoral authority said Maduro had won, compared to 4.45 million for Gonzalez (Source)

Of course both BRICS and America+Europe want preferential access to the world's biggest oil reserves. Still, that's less of an issue than that Venezuelans want to bring their families back home to a place they can live comfortably. Venezuelans were unable to achieve this under Maduro's regime, whether you wish to describe it as authoritarian or not.

I am pro-socialism and am left-wing, but this is why I hope the will of the people will win out.

pro-socialism and am left-wing

Interesting labels; thank you for your input. I don't agree, but it's good to have others chime in. I don't want an echo chamber.

What's happening in Venezuela is because Maduro's election authority does not want to release the results of the elections.

Any other conspiranoid theories go down the drain when one can easily verify the official amounts exported of this wealth buried in the soil is NOT going to pensions, education nor infrastructure.

This has nothing to do with the US access to the minerals. A democratic government can do business with whomever they want, even if it continues to be China. Maduro doesn't want to let go of power. The people of Venezuela deserve to have their votes counted, and their opinions heard.
