This guy gonna poop his pants when he discovers heat-shrink tubing.

I have a fraying cable that is usba on both ends, I can't fit the appropriate size shrink tube over the connector. I need this product

Try to see if you can find some heat shrink tubing with extra shrink ratio so you can use a bigger one that fits and still have the result you desire.

For all those wondering, extra shrink ratio is real - it's not just a made up thing, no judgements should be passed, some things just shrink more than others and that's a fact of nature.

I just got out of the pool

Elaine, do Youtubers know about shrinkage?

What the hell are you two talking about?

Don't do that. It's the worst. Someone did that to me once and it's incredibly hard to convince others that it wasn't YOU that pooped YOUR pants. Such a mean thing to do!

[–] [email protected] 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

So it was you who pooped my pants at the prom...

Don't let your dreams stay dreams.

Yeah I guess heat-shrink would do the job most of the time. But for when you have connectors that are too big to fit the right heat-shrink over or want to splice more than 2 wires together and want a waterproof seal over them this could be useful.

Why not use injectable silicone instead of hot glue though?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 months ago

Hot glue is cheap, easy to handle and easier to clean away is my guesses... I would definitely try a silicone gun

Imagine if some brands included strain relief at the expense of thinner, sleeker cables.

Absolutely! I hate how Apple prioritizes form over function. Definitely not only them, but everyone seems to follow whatever they do...

I just glued these to mold halves to eachother, and now they're stuck together 🤣

Hence why he used veg oil the second time.

Interesting project. Can't think of anything where adhesive shrink wrap would not do a better job.

But worth remembering for odd projects.

I'm positive I saw a purpose-built stick out there for use in this application. like you can run it through any regular glue gun but you get rubber out the other end

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

whoa, you're not kidding. I never thought of that and searched it. This page looks like an industrial supplier of different kinds. https://www.hotmelt.com/collections/hot-melt-glue-sticks

this stuff was like a black vulcanized rubber, and I saw it on TikTok but now I can't find it anywhere
