Undertale? (lemmy.ml)
submitted 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

It's stupid cheap on Steam right now and I've never played it. I've been doing 100% of my gaming on the deck, which has me wondering how well this plays on it. Not graphically/performance because it'll clearly run on a toaster. But mechanically. Are there parts that are hard to use controllers vs kb/mouse for?

Now that I think about it, is there a resource that speaks specifically to this sort of question for games? I know of protondb but that seems to be focused on getting it to run easily and with good performance.

EDIT: thanks for the input! I've purchased it and I'm stoked to give it a playthrough. I WFH, so the thought of sitting at the same desk I was just at for 8+ hrs to game is not at all appealing. Been loving the deck for this exact reason!

I've played through undertale on my deck, works great, had zero issues. I prefer the controller for this game Eta: it's a stellar game too, definitely recommend it.

Undertale is great on controller. That's how I usually play it.

Played both Undertale and Deltarune on Deck, it works well with the controls. Enjoy! It's a great experience, wish I could play it for the first time again.

Im playing it rn for the first time on deck. It's pretty good; i can control my "heart" without problem

I played a little bit last night and had a bit of difficulty avoiding things with my "heart". Do you use the analog stick or the touchpad? I'll have to play with control settings tonight and see if I can not die so fast. :)

Im using the dpad, i find it easier than the joystick I still suck, but this is basically my first controller experience, so mine is quite literally a skill issue

Game is great, my first playthrough was pretty close to when it came out, I played on Linux with keyboard and mouse and had zero issues. Second was on switch, with controller and it was fine. It might be more enjoyable with a controller tbh.

I hope this isn't too late, but don't read anything about this game before you play it!

I haven't! I'm excited to see what's in store.
