Serious Sam (sopuli.xyz)

I recently started my first Serious Sam game and I am super excited! I've been craving a bulletstormy mindless shooter, and I thought that that was what Serious Sam goes for. So I started it up last night and went with normal. Almost immediately I found myself having to conserve ammo, aim carefully, and watch my health. I died after the first group of enemies. I reloaded, moved more carefully, and made a decent dent in the level before dieing several more times.

I started googling and found out I was entirely wrong about Sam, its a game meant to challenge and force you to think about enemy spawns and weapon choice. It is not at all the game I was expecting but it is a ton of fun and I reccomend it to anyone looking for a fun challenging shooter!

If you want a less serious experience, the multiplayer is usually much more run and gun, die and respawn with little penalty.

I still have PTSD from all those kamikaze bombers. Those "aaaaaa" when a horde of them running down the hill with no end in sight forever etched in my head.

Glad you made the comment, I now can hear them in my head too. AAAAAHHHHHH!

It was the skeletons throwing the bolas for me. Terrified little me to the point that I'd just run and hide from those bastards. Some places they'd come in a giant group, from all directions, just after a wave of those charging bulls and my stress levels would spike and I'd need to pause and go pee lol

Play it multiplayer. It's the bullet stormy mindless shooter you wanted, and its a blast.

Which Serious Sam are we talking about here? I usually play Serious Sam 3 BFE and there is plenty of "OMFGwheredidtheyallcamefromeatleaddemonspawn" moments.

Siberian Mayhem becuase it got put on game pass, but I know there are a bunch of others.

And yeah I've had like 6 huge ones break through a wall and give me a heart attack. I've definitely learned the value if running.

Weirdly I prefer it to the first and second episodes. I wish they would make a sequel, tough I don't mind them focusing on their newer IP, The Talos Principle.

Seems like you would love DOOM Eternal, but first play DOOM 2016 if you want to follow the lore. But most doom players don't really care about that. Still the game's soundtrack is awesome. I recommend you play both if not already.

I've played both and love both, but I would say normal on those games is much easier than normal on Sam. Not sure how the higher difficulties match up.

I think the higher difficulties on doom are not skill based where the higher difficulties on serious Sam are more knowing the map/mechanics.

Maybe Boltgun? It is a Doom clone - think Original Doom not the modern with fancy graphics. This is a homage to those pixelated run and gun shooters from the past.

I got it a couple nights ago on the PS5 and have not been able to put it down. Just the look and feel of the original Doom, the death metal soundtrack, and of course, it is set in the 40k universe - so prepare yourself for an endless amount of cultists and demons.

Google a few videos of it first though to make sure it’ll fit your bill. The graphics are meant to look the way they do.

Are you serious?

I should continue my game at some point.
