Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

My father in-law sent us some rosemary he’s grown so my wife found this whiskey cocktail. https://www.seriouseats.com/drinking-in-season-peach-and-rosemary-bourbon-cocktail-recipe

I double the whiskey but it’s quite good. Here’s a pic https://imgur.com/a/Vt0yQbh

That looks great! I've done pear & rosemary but not tried peach. I have made an ice cream with peaches & bourbon and it was amazing. Can't find the recipe but you mix, freeze, food processor, and freeze again - I have used that procedure for all sorts of ice cream, the booze works as antifreeze and it comes out wonderful.

So far only had a chance to make some daiquiris this month. I made them with some Hamilton White Stache and a splash of The Funk. I also ended up using powdered sugar, which was really tasty. I think my preferred daiquiri might have strained lime juice and powdered sugar, but I'm going to have to keep testing it!

Sounds great I’ll have to give it a try. Plantation pineapple rum makes great funky daiquiris (especially Hemingway daiquiris).

Woo hoo! Goodbye Dry July!

I'm having a lovely paper plane, with double bourbon (the original too sweet for me but double bourbon or half everything else is perfect). In ounces:

.75 Aperol .75 Amaro Nonino .75 fresh lemon juice 1.5 Evan Williams bottled-in-bond

Ill have to try this, i love a classic paper plane but I usually dont want more than one because of how sweet i find them

Finally acquired crème de violette, so it's aviation this month.

Lucky. That and yellow chartreuse have been out of stock for about a month now here.

Tepache tonight, with a truly tiny splash of bourbon (the very end of a bottle).

Another of the Cima Summer cocktail. Twice the Fire tincture this time. Pineapple juice still great in here. Teeny pinch of salt in it instead of tajin/salt garnish. Not a great picture, but a great drink.

Speaking of garnish - I'm completely unable to do the tajin rim, it's too coarse to stick. If anyone has advice on that I'd be grateful. Last night did lime wheels halfway dipped in the tajin/salt mixture instead, very visually attractive and keeps the condiments out of the drink for those who don't want them in it - and definitely no pineapple leaf as it was a casual party not paid event!

A sort of piña colada -toasted coconut rum, fresh pineapple juice, and tepache. Sweet, maybe a little too sweet but it's good, the fresh juice is delicious & the tepache light & complex.

Having a paper plane before supper. Yes again, a weeknight cocktail, Mondays have been difficult lately. Nice aperitif before a dinner of pork loin, broccoli, black beans and rice. Double bourbon as always, it's a magical combination but original specs not quite right for me.

And for those of you who are the cooks in your family - I shake up a drink, park it in the freezer, finish cooking then sit down and relax with the drink before calling everyone to dinner. Often with the husband while he has a beer (he does the post dinner cleanup).

If anyone has ideas for Friday synchronization please post them in that pinned thread.

Had a spicy Monday margarita tonight, usually don't have a drink on weekdays but it was so good with the supper of beans & yellow rice. Lime from my dwarf lime tree!
