Things I like about Reelgood: track movies I want to see and what is on the services I subscribe to. Marking things I’ve seen and like or dislike. The app is fast and has no horrible ads. Available on iPhone, iPad and has an AppleTV App (tho not very useful).

Things that could improve:

Recommendations are terrible. No ability to mark movies “not interested”

Alerts when something you want to see is added to a service you subscribe to

UI could be a better

Ratings by rotten tomatoes (certified fresh?) would be nice…maybe more tracking/labeling of awards like Sundance, Oscar’s, golden globes

Better ability to sort by rating/popularity

Community ratings, discussion, etc

Maybe follow other users that share your tastes?

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

I use Letterboxd and love it

It has some great features Reelgood doesn’t but what if I just want to pull up my watchlist? I don’t see it

Letterboxd is hands down the best. And community is huge.

There is also watchlist. You need to add every movie individually or you can import watchlist(and even your movies) from imdb.

If reelgood allows export maybe you can try importing to letterboxd. Idk.

It's in the left nav -- press the ham butt in the upper left hand corner, and then it's called "watchlist"

Letterboxed is amazing! Anyone know an equivalent with TV series?

Trakt.tv is great for television.

Trakt is great because there's loads of apps that use the API for it but your history is stored on Trakt so even if you swap to a different app you can still access that history.

Serializd is the same as letterboxd, but for tv shows.

I used trakt.tv, Jellyfin has a great plugin for it.

Trakt.tv has a large amount of first and third party apps available https://trakt.tv/apps

I don't see Simkl mentioned anywhere yet - that's what I use, and I've been very happy with it so far. It's pretty similar to Trakt, but a bit more user-friendly (imo) and with more active development. Also has a Jellyfin plugin. It has a few issues and missing features (particularly the lack of custom lists), but pretty much every change I want is coming soon in a big overhaul. Really the worst thing about it is the awkward name and choice of pictures for the landing page lol.

Giving it a shot

I also use simkl, and it's great, has plugins for many different software, including Plex, and some software on your windows computer too when. You watch files most of the way through. I also have a huge list to try to watch for my whole life (over 15000 movies). It's a great platform.

JustWatch is a good one

It was already mentioned here: Letterboxd is my favorite. It is not just an app to track and rate movies, it's a social network where you can follow people, comment and share.

I like a lot of things about Letterboxd for tracking, rating, discovering movies. The one thing I don’t like is that it does not know or show what is streaming where. So if I’m looking at movies I want to see, I can’t choose from ones that are currently streaming (on a service I subscribe to) or see if one is…have to pull up another app or website for that. It only has links to buy or rent.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

this feature on letterboxd is actually gated to their paid members; it has justwatch links and a "filter by streaming service" option if you subscribe.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Ah. Awesome. I would gladly pay for that if I had time to watch more than about 2 movies a month 😂

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Actually it shows streaming services but, in my opinion, it's not very accurate. If you pay pro subscripción you'll get more options.

Hobi is amazing, I really love it, first app I ever paid for
