Isn't OnlyOffice proprietary software?

Definitely was not! I'd never heard of that before now, lol.

Nope, it's open source under AGPL3. I think they might be dual-licensing though as AFAIK you have to pay if you use it as an enterprise.

They might be, but that's also not necessary. You can charge for open source software. RedHat Enterprise Linux comes to mind.

Nice to know OnlyOffice is OSS though! I'll have to give them a closer look. It's certainly a cleaner UI than LibreOffice...

Didn't try it but it looks like they also provide an installable offline version under the AGPL: https://github.com/ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors

Oh, interesting! I have avoided it up until now, I'll have to give that version a look. Thank you!

Doesn't ONLYOFFICE only run as a web service? And isn't it a Russian company? I haven't looked at it in some time as LaTeX does what I want for documents and LibreOffice does what I need for spreadsheets, and I don't need to be on the internet to use them.

OnlyOffice Docs is a web office service, but this is a new release of OnlyOffice Desktop Editors, an offline version, available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
