I just want a ~~'minimize to tray'~~ 'close to tray' option on desktop, especially with the kdocker workaround not working on wayland.

I can't believe thunderbird still doesn't have this feature natively.

Does Betterbird do it to your liking?

good point, I was going to months ago, but I was too lazy to migrate the accounts and forgot it existed until now

Have a look at migration. I think you might be able to copy data from some folder to an equivalent one in Betterbird to transfer your accounts across.

yeah, I just tried copying ~/.thunderbird, renamed the profile directory with the name betterbird created on startup and it worked.

They implement "minimize to tray", but with the add-on "Minimize on close" I now have a "close to tray" behavior.

Great that you got it working!

I like thunderbird and i used it to structure up my email into folders and add rules etc.

But the fastmail web interface is actually often better, so I tend to use that. It's really well designed.

Fatmail is the best 😍

Okay, but is there some sort of a roadmap/schedule/ETA for Thunderbird on Android?

Searching for emails sucks balls compared to Outlook, and accessing any semblance of advanced search is not obvious as you have to go through the top bar.

I can't even do from:[email protected] in the search field, I have to go to advanced search, which is missing other features.
