I've been into flight simulators since the early eighties, with Psion Figher Pilot being my very first simulator.

Since then, I have gone through quite a few, and many of them being issues of the famous civil ones (Microsoft Flight Simulator 'xx or XPlane). I never had the need of a background, not even needed to be part of a virtual airline.

Nowadays, however, I am feeling the lack of motivation. Seems to me that, ironically, more realism does not equal to more fun or motivation, and I just don't know why.

Getting to the point, while I don't either expect or want MSFS 2024 to be any kind of RPG game, I do feel like the things you can do as announced (actual transport, SAR, etc.) might be what I need. I will let the gamifying part be done by 3rd party apps and hopefully the new sim features will allow these add-ons to widen their scope.

As someone who plays on xbox currently, and used to play on pc back in the say when they had SAR and stuff, I do miss that aspect a lot as well. I thought thats what MSFS would be but it’s more about realism and flipping switches, which can be fun, but not all the time.

One thing that irks me is that i wish this was an add on to the existing MSFS. I don’t want to have to purchase all of the stuff again, especially considering it will probably be the same graphics/mechanics.

All of your MSFS 2020 marketplace purchases will transfer to 2024. Externally purchased add ons should also be compatible.
