MODERATORS

For those of you who missed the post the other week Lemmyvision is a contest where participating country-based communities (like ours) nominate a song from our country (Australia) and there will be some voting to determine the winner.

If you have a song that is Australian or some ideas comment them here (and maybe why you should vote for i + a link). They will be added to a post (released on 25/03) where they will be voted on to select our official nomination. This post will be closed on 24/03 sometime AEST.

Update: It has been confirmed that the earliest a song can be released to be eligible is 1/1/2023

@[email protected] made a suggestion last week - Let's enter this into LemmyVision (Donny Benét - American Dream).

It’s weird It’s political It’s recent It’s Australian, but the title will confuse people It’s the vibe

I think it’ll resonate well with the Lemmy audience, see these instant upvote lyrics:

When the Orange man Came into power The Minutes Soon Felt like hours Then the Old man Won the election But the world Didn’t change direction

Does the song need to be of the past 12 months, or any Australian song?

The post here says in the last year, then states after 1 Jan 2023, so I guess the competition is for songs released in 2023?

Maybe pinging @[email protected] is the quickest way to find out.

Hey thanks ! Ideally the songs have been released in the last 12 months (= past hear or so), but it's not a hard rule so jan 1st 2023 is more of a "general earliest limit" haha

As @[email protected] said, 1/1/2023, is the oldest a song can be

It's gotta be something from Our Kylie;

Kylie Minogue - Padum Padum https://youtu.be/p6Cnazi_Fi0?si=2gK5W93-kGwL4elZ

@[email protected] also suggested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICxswXG87lI which came out in 2022, unfortunately meaning that we cannot nominate it, but I'll put it here anyway because I thought it was truly inspirational.

My vote is for "Yes" by A.B. Original, DJ Total Eclipse and Marlon.

The lyric "I never swore allegiance to the crown" sends chills down my spine.

The Dripping Tap by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It's Australian, sends a good message and most importantly, it's an absolute jam.

It's from 2022, though, so maybe a little too old.

Almost got the band name right

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Oh fuck... Didn't notice that at all, it sounds right both ways :D

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago

Unfortunately, it has to be from 1/1/2023 according to https://aussie.zone/post/7593330

If we're having trouble I might propose that it is extended back to at least 2022.
