“Former #Trump WH aide Peter #Navarro has been ordered to report to a Miami prison on March 19 to begin serving a 4 month sentence for defying a subpoena from Jan6 select committee.

Navarro, who is urging a federal appeals court to stay the sentence while he attempts to overturn his conviction, faces the prospect of becoming the first top adviser to Trump to serve jail time for offense related to the effort to subvert election.”

@GottaLaff Slower than molasses in January.

@Snowshadow Sadly. But that’s also its upside. Innocent people are saved too.

@GottaLaff Edited for clarity: True sometimes. In Canada we have a in our Charter of Rights, section 11, "a right to a fair trial and trial within a reasonable time", not the US? ( I can't remember, it's been too long).
There have been cases thrown out of court because it took too long. Recently, due to a shortage of judges many cases were tossed. (The shortage is being addressed now.)

@Snowshadow True sometimes, yes. Because of things you mentioned, sometimes delay is inevitable.

@GottaLaff Too often it is delayed by unscrupulous lawyers and over lenient judges.

@Snowshadow Oh absolutely. And in the US, not enough judges, too many cases, and inequality among defendants

@[email protected] Very heavy on the inequality among defendants. We have the same problem here in Canada. Wealthy can hire great lawyers and the poor are screwed.

@GottaLaff

Navarro should man up and do his time instead of wasting money he doesn't really have.

It's four months in what is likely Club Fed. Do your time, Pete, then you can strut around like a big shot crime boss once you're released. 😏

@[email protected] Children are innocent and wonderful and not malicious criminals. These are not children. @[email protected]
