Personally I love the bastardization of the movement into a cult/religion. It feels very real to me that a conviction centered around one man and dictated by his singular intelligence can become myth.

Back on Trantor I love how the Brothers have a coach to help keep up appearances.

Enjoyed seeing the warden get toasted. I love the actor (Mindhunter) but disliked the character—especially his charisma and ego in relation to his role as warden. That speech before the barbecue was icky.

Since the first episode aired I’ve finished reading Foundation and am part way through Foundation and Empire. Unlike what some more negative takes have said I actually think the adaptation has been pretty clever so far. It hasn’t been about maintaining every single plot point and the details of every character but rather stretching things around so we’ve got these persistent, familiar characters (and places) involved. I don’t think I’m far enough into the books (nor the tv series far enough into airing) to really judge how they’ve handled adapting the whole psychohistory concept.

Poly Verisof makes his return this episode! I’m amused his TV series incarnation isn’t totally disconnected from the book character.

I am a little perplexed as to the nature of this “Cloud Dominion”. I was under the impression Empire was pretty much the undisputed power that is - over the whole galaxy no less. Either the Dominion has broken away in the last 138 years, or it’s so small and remote that it wasn’t ever part of the Empire… in which case, why marry into their ruling dynasty? Is it all about the genetics? Maybe we will find out…

Demerzels little smirks when she speaks to Brother Day are creeping me out haha

Still some jankiness for me in the writing and dialogue. I can’t quite explain it.

But I do feel the show is finding its feet after setting things up in season 1, as Goyer claimed. I appreciated much of the setup in this episode.

That being said, the ending with the “find Mallow” stuff seems off. Psychohistory isn’t about individuals. So it makes no sense that the vault would know anything about a particular individual. Unless they’re going for something else, which I would suspect is some unnecessary deviation from the books.

I feel like the writing jank has increased this season actually (though it’s still too early to tell really)… not sure if it’s the pacing though

Maybe the Vault has some ability to interact with the world too? Not the first upgrade it’s been given compared to the book (I say singular because I’ve only read Foundation so far)
