I have proof of this being a part of the application process. When asked in an email to the company on what grounds they asked about my relationship status they gave an absolute bs excuse:

"The purpose on the question is not focused on your relationship status. It is more about the support form your environment that can influence your stress resistance at work. You can treat this question as a question about the support from your closest friends, family, etc. The forming of the question can be a bit confusing, but this is the only purpose of asking about this."

So I also have the company admitting it in writing. I was not "chosen to go forward with" them. This question would have been an outright illegal and basis for a lawsuit in Finland. If it is not legal, to which agency/governmental institution should I contact regarding this issue?

I supervise people i Finland. Although the Nordic countries are similar in many ways, our work/labour legislations are not the same. General, you are much better protected as an employee in Finland, Norway and Sweden than you are in Denmark.

It's legal. Doesn't matter if it's legal in Finland, so I can't really see what the company is admitting to? Why the outrage? Seems a bit salty.

Er der en der lige vil sætte lidt ord på hvorfor folk er oppe og køre over det her spørgsmål? Tror folk at den eneste grund til spørgsmålet er at vide om folk får børn om lidt eller hvad?

In Danish law it is illegal to discriminate (that is treat people differently) based on race, skin color, religion, political views, sexuality, age, handicap or national, ethnic or social origin.

It is as a general principle legal to discriminate on other grounds, such as the views of your partner. But I would be a bit weary about a company that expects so much stress and overwork that it might cause problems with the spouse.

I was asked What my parents did for work and what their education was, which I found very problematic. I answered nonetheless. I was in my mid twenties living in the other end of the country of where my parents live.

But that one really stuck to me as someone who broke the cycle with the challenges that comes along with it. I don’t think it was a fair question to ask.

It's crazy that you think you've caught them in a huge crime. If you don't want to answer a question, then don't. You seem like someone who easily feel offended.
