That's definitely on you, not the cables. I have had plenty of both cheap and expensive cables and they all are still working just as well as the day I bought them (well, the ones I haven't lost anyway).

ive had cables just go to shit on me and they sit like pretty little princesses inside. all cheap cables tho so i bought a d'addario im hoping will last awhile but havent had it long enough to know

Have you considered going wireless?
No, I assume there is a loss in quality? I haven't explored this idea tbh.
Quality and lag have no noticeable difference for me. Battery charge is more of an issue.
How bad is the battery life? I usually hold off on wireless tech until the battery life is manageable. If there are any with >50 hours of battery life, that would be nice
Closer to 5 hours than 50. Easy to charge, but I could really do with two so I can swap quickly.
Only cables that go bust here are 3.5mm mini plug cables that I use for mini synths and sequencers. Never broke a guitar cable, always find broken guitar cables in most of my friends’ gear though.
I remember that I stopped having cables break when I switched to a different brand (one of thomann.de's store brands, so not even that expensive). There's definitely a chance that it's the cables.
The whole reason expensive cables are expensive is because they are expected to hold up to some abuse. Cheap stuff can last, but it needs to be babied. True for lots of things.
I would pay more than "midshelf" price for any cable. With analog quality is more important, but there is a point where you're just buying the marketing.
monoprice.com has a reputation for having cheap good cables (cables in general, not sure of their reputation among musicians). I bought a guitar cable from them and haven't had any problems, but I haven't subjected it to a ton of abuse either.
Well, definitely don’t roll over them. How is your wrapping technique though? Guitar cables are the most susceptible to bend damage of any cable I’ve used. If you don’t wrap them up correctly you spin the wires inside and the connections break.
So, my advice, wrap cables properly, you can find help on YouTube I’m sure, and buy cables with removable ends so if they do break you can just cut and solder a shorter cable without the broken section, instead of throwing away the whole cable.
