"Descend" is an interesting word choice here considering they're literally going to "ascend" from the ground.

we had a pretty decent cicada invasion last summer.. didn't quite cover the ground in corpses, but it filled the air with their "song"..

When I was in college we had an abnormally heavy year for crickets. Dunno why. They covered everything. There were dead crickets piled up in every corner outside like snow drifts. They were in stairwells. They were in my third floor dorm room. They were everywhere. I'll never forget the smell as long as I live. Not looking forward to this cicada business at all.
