I can consistently access a couple of tech communities at beehaw.org, but consistently cannot access [email protected] or [email protected].

Is this by design, or is it growing pains? I'm willing to wait if it's likely to get fixed but I'll get another account elsewhere if that's just how our federation is set up.

It's growing pains.

Also, you should know that beehaw has defederated from two of the largest instances because they don't like their open sign-up policy. They chose this due to them having too much work for their administration instead of getting more help.

I would focus on other news and politics communities and let beehaw do their own thing.

They chose this due to them having too much work for their administration instead of getting more help.

Beehaw's admins have been open about the what and why, and are working with, or trying to work with, the admins of those instances. You're from lemmy.world so I guess you're angry about it, but I don't think it's fair to say they took the lazy approach.

I was annoyed a day ago. Today I'm over it. A little time helps put things in perspective.

I think in time the mod tools will improve (probably quite quickly now they're becoming more necessary) and they'll re-federate. It looks like the Lemmy API can already help with some of these things, so there should be third-party tools coming soon™.

Beehaw has federated. That's why

Wait I thought they didn't de-federate with kbin?

Beehaw only de-federated with lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works, this server and beehaw are communicating with each other normally (unless bugs interfere).

Growing pains, exacerbated by this instance having a low user count.

When I went to https://lemmyrs.org/c/[email protected] it worked, but https://lemmyrs.org/c/[email protected] initially showed a 404 until I searched for the community causing this server to fetch it. No-one had looked at it before from here, and it's an open issue in Lemmy that only new comments (or ones searched for by url) will show.

It works! Thank you

I want to access /c/[email protected] but using https://lemmyrs.org/c/[email protected] gives me 404 and I try to search for it, but the search doesn’t yield any result. What am I missing?
