For those that really don't know: Star Trek TNG, episode "the inner light", S5E25.

Thank you for your service.

It's a must watch episode of the series. There's a few that have to be seen but would serve as a poor introduction. This one and the Darmok one for sure.

I currently have a lot of downtime, thank you for this extra context, I'm going to watch this episode later sounds fun :)

Or its sloppy, slimy equivalent saliva.

And the flute is the bong you smoked out of.

Have visited cursed chapters of other lives on salvia. Have had full lives on ayahuasca... tired stare ... no flute though.

[–] lingh0e 2 points 9 months ago

Ketamine and salvia. I experienced eternities while under their influence.

A drug that makes you hallucinate being on a dying planet where you learn to post memes and type into a little glowing box. When you wake up, you get to keep the glowing box.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Why would I want to keep that nightmarish box?

For Raid Shadow Legends™

It also plays all the bideogam

Come to think of it: Doesn't that flute look suspiciously like a 1st gen vape? Like... might the reason why he got the flute for real just be that he wasn't zapped by some satellite but because he was high as a kite on some vapor coming from the "flute"? What if Q is just his version of white elephants?!

Or Pink elephants. IDK, I'm no flute player.

Have you met my friend Outer Wilds?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

Definitely my favorite 22 minutes to spend 80 years on! :)

reminds me of that pasta where a guy suffers an accident and lives an entire life, marries and has kids while in a coma.

my man lamp liar

[–] [email protected] 14 points 9 months ago (5 children)

Pretty sure that's what ultra high concentrates of salvia do to you.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 9 months ago

Actually had a friend who reported a somewhat similar experience on salvia. I watched him hit the pipe, giggle for a minute or so before his expression went stone cold. After he came down it took a while for him to get his bearings. Asked him what happened and he said he felt like he floated into the sky and landed on a giant clock face. He heard a voice tell him that he would be stuck on that clock forever, and said it felt like literal years that he was there. Said he wouldn't do salvia again for a million dollars after that.

I on the other hand always had really delightful trips on it, so your mileage may vary from a five minute wacky giggle trip to eternity on the sky clock.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago

Man.. I've done that twice. Definitely very uncomfortable experiences.

Twice was enough for me so we gave the rest to friends. One of my friend's moms did it while I was in the room and never looked at me the same again. She told her son (my friend) later that she legitimately believed I'm the anti-christ.

I became a toddler crying in my mothers arms during a riot happening at the partition of India.

I did Salvia once over 10 years ago and it truly changed my life for the better. Definitely something that more folks should try in a safe space. It's similar to mushrooms but only lasts for a few minutes instead of hours.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

Agreed. I've done salvia and mushrooms and they are both amazing, but I've also seen a few bad trips, usually from people that were a little unsure about trying it in the first place. My rule of thumb for psychedelics is to go in expecting an amazing experience, but if you have even the slightest hesitation, wait until you're ready.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago

For real. It can really knock you out :D

Part of me wonders if you could have a weight loss clinic that's just a drug that puts people into a medical coma while raising their metabolism and then just keeping them in homeostasis until the weight eventually just sweats out of their system.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 9 months ago (10 children)

Fun fact: when loosing weight, you actually breathe the weight off. Fat is “burned” by your cells and the byproducts are transferred, via your bloodstream, to your lungs where you exhaust them.

Takes Pill

Wakes up in a dirty prison cell

... Oh no.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

This kinda happened to me after a 4 day meth binge resulted in psychosis.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I went to day 4 once on a party weekend, it wasn't psychosis or anything but took so long to recover and last day wasn't fun anyways. That's when my never go past day 3 rule was made and to make sure to eat and drink when indulging.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

I made a rule called "Never do Meth again". I'm pretty much guaranteed to go psychotic if I do nowadays.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Kinda like Roy from Rick and Morty?

Star Trek The Next Generation - Picard goes through this exactly. "The Inner Light"
